EDINBURGH, Scotland (AP) ? Queen Elizabeth II's granddaughter Zara Phillips married England rugby star Mike Tindall on Saturday ? but Britain's second royal wedding of the year was largely a low-key affair, with only a hint of the glamor and excitement of Prince William's showstopping nuptials.

Phillips, 30, who is 13th in line to the throne but does not use a royal title, and Tindall, 32, were greeted by hundreds of flag-waving well-wishers and the sound of traditional bagpipes as they left their wedding service at Edinburgh's Canongate Kirk following a private ceremony.

The often publicity shy bride wore a traditional ivory silk gown and a full-length flowing veil, but posed only briefly for onlookers ? and gave her husband a fleeting, modest kiss ? as they left the 17th century church for a reception at the queen's Scottish residence, the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

Unlike William and Kate Middleton's spectacular ceremony in April, the wedding service led by Rev. Neil Gardner was not broadcast on television and crowds gathered in the Scottish city were warned by police there would be little for them to see.

Members of the public packed along Edinburgh's Royal Mile, the city's famed cobbled boulevard, cheered loudly for William and Middleton, now known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as they arrived to join the congregation, traveling in a sleek black sedan with Prince Harry.

Middleton, wearing a biscuit colored coat, dress and large angled hat won a warm reception as she offered a wave, as did the queen and Duke of Edinburgh who arrived shortly before the bride.

While the details of Middleton's wedding gown were a closely guarded secret, Phillips ? more commonly seen in jeans or sportswear ? made an expected choice in choosing Stewart Parvin, a British designer favored by the queen. She also wore a Greek Key tiara lent to her by mother Princess Anne, and Jimmy Choo shoes.

The occasion was far removed from April's international spectacle at Westminster Abbey, but neatly reflected the couple's unflashy style. Tindall had even proposed in a modest setting, as he and Phillips curled up on a sofa at home watching a movie.

Before the ceremony, royal officials confirmed that Phillips will keep her maiden name rather than be known as Mrs. Tindall, largely because of her sporting career.

Phillips is known better for her sporting achievements than her royal heritage, as a world class equestrian who is likely to compete in the 2012 Olympics. Tindall ? who Phillips met in 2003 in Australia during England's triumphant Rugby World Cup campaign ? is a leading rugby player who has captained his country.

The ceremony was the first royal wedding held in Scotland since 1992, when Princess Anne ? the mother of the bride ? married her second husband, Timothy Laurence. Anne's elder child, Peter Phillips, married his Canadian partner Autumn Kelly in 2008.

Even the prospect of a brief glimpse of the royal family was enough to entice hundreds to Edinburgh for Saturday's wedding, including a few dozen stalwarts who camped overnight to win a front row view.

Waving a Canadian flag, Margaret Kittle, 76, said she had traveled from Ontario, Canada, and staked out a spot on Friday night. "I flew over last Saturday and have been here since last night. I started following the royals after I saw George VI and the Queen back home in Canada when I was 4 years old," she said.

Helen Sutherland, a 65-year-old from Muir of-Ord in the Scottish Highlands, was wrapped in a warm blanket as she waited for a glimpse of Britain's newest royal couple. "It got chilly through the night, but we want to see the bride and her dress. They seem to be a very happy couple," she said.

Phillips and Tindall hosted a glitzy cocktail party late Friday for relatives and guests aboard the former royal yacht Britannia, which they had hired for the occasion. The famous ship, once used by the queen to tour the world, was decommissioned in 1997.

But the party was a rare moment of public glamor for the couple, who are known for putting their devotion to sports ahead of their celebrity. The couple's honeymoon has been postponed because both are due to feature in major events next week ? the bride in horse trials, and the groom in England's rugby international against Wales.

Someone firebombed a Planned Parenthood clinic in McKinney, Texas, late Tuesday night. Because it was so late, no one was hurt. The clinic doesn't provide abortions, but there had been protesters there earlier that day anyway. You might've read about the news on Twitter or on a liberal blog. Probably not in a newspaper or on a cable new channel. Definitely not at any right-wing blogs. Which is a bit odd, actually, considering how much attention terrorist attacks generally get in this country.

Oh, sorry, how much attention possible Islamic terrorist attacks get.

Planned Parenthood, in case you haven't been paying attention, has been the focus of a flood of political attacks -- both rhetorical and legislative -- since approximately the minute the Republicans who were elected in 2010 took office across the nation. James O'Keefe shopped around one of his trademark shamelessly misleading video "stings." Glenn Beck devoted an hour to falsely accusing Planned Parenthood of various heinous crimes. The major right-wing pundits have stepped up the hysterical anti-reproductive rights rhetoric as multiple states attempted to defund the organization. The right has even moved on to attacking contraception, as if it doesn't even want people to believe that its goal isn't to control women's bodies.

The National Review's the Corner has run multiple posts on some pro-life "study" accusing Planned Parenthood of "systemic, organization-wide fraud and abuse" and even human trafficking "at this federally funded billion-dollar abortion business." One of them said, "Where is the Media," and bemoaned the fact that the mainstream press was supposedly "ignoring" the report, which got a major press conference with multiple members of Congress and coverage in Politico and the Hill.

But, weirdly, this Planned Parenthood news has not been mentioned at the National Review.

It's easy to imagine that if the target of the attack had been associated with the right -- Marcus Bachmann's clinic, maybe? -- this would be a major national story, even if no one was hurt and the attacker's identity was still unknown.

It's even easier to imagine that if anyone had any reason to suspect that a Muslim did this, that it'd be not just a major national story but also the subject of congressional inquiries and maybe eventually an air war. (Even failed Islamic terrorists are treated as if they succeeded by politicians, these days.)

We obviously don't know yet, but this attack seems more likely to be the work of a politically motivated person with conservative beliefs than a random act of vandalism. In other words, domestic terrorism. Someone threw a Molotov cocktail at a women's health clinic. It's insane that only a couple of Internet feminists actually seem to care.

Restaurant operators reported higher same-store sales and traffic levels; Operators? outlook for sales and capital spending remained positive

WASHINGTON, July 29, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ ? Driven by stronger same-store sales and traffic levels and a more optimistic outlook among restaurant operators, the National Restaurant Association?s (www.restaurant.org) Restaurant Performance Index (RPI) rose above 100 in June. ?The RPI ? a monthly composite index that tracks the health of and outlook for the U.S. restaurant industry ? stood at 100.6 in June, up 0.8 percent from May?s level of 99.9. ?In addition, June represented the sixth time in the last seven months that the RPI stood above 100, which signifies expansion in the index of key industry indicators.

?The RPI?s solid improvement in June was due in large part to stronger same-store sales and customer traffic performances, which bounced back from their May declines,? said Hudson Riehle, senior vice president of the Research and Knowledge Group for the Association. ??In addition, restaurant operators are optimistic that their sales environment will improve in the months ahead, while their outlook for capital spending also remains strong.?

The RPI is constructed so that the health of the restaurant industry is measured in relation to a steady-state level of 100. ?Index values above 100 indicate that key industry indicators are in a period of expansion, and index values below 100 represent a period of contraction for key industry indicators. ?The RPI consists of two components, the Current Situation Index and the Expectations Index.

The Current Situation Index, which measures current trends in four industry indicators (same-store sales, traffic, labor and capital expenditures), stood at 100.5 in June ? up a solid 1.4 percent from May?s level of 99.2. ?The Current Situation Index stood above 100 in three of the last four months, which signifies expansion in the current situation indicators. ?

Restaurant operators reported stronger same-store sales results in June. ?Fifty-one percent of restaurant operators reported a same-store sales gain between June 2010 and June 2011, up from 39 percent of operators who reported higher same-store sales in May. ?Meanwhile, 31 percent of operators reported a same-store sales decline in June, down from 40 percent of operators who reported lower sales in May.

Restaurant operators also reported improving customer traffic levels in June. ?Forty-four percent of restaurant operators reported an increase in customer traffic between June 2010 and June 2011, up from 33 percent of operators who reported higher traffic in May. ?In comparison, 33 percent of operators reported a traffic decline in June, down from 41 percent who reported lower traffic in May.

Along with improving sales and traffic results, restaurant operators reported an increase in capital spending activity. ?Forty-eight percent of operators said they made a capital expenditure for equipment, expansion or remodeling during the last three months, up from 44 percent who reported similarly last month.

The Expectations Index, which measures restaurant operators? six-month outlook for four industry indicators (same-store sales, employees, capital expenditures and business conditions), stood at 100.7 in June ? up slightly from May?s level of 100.6. ?June represented the 11th consecutive month above 100 for the Expectations Index, and the modest improvement came on the heels of three consecutive monthly declines.

Restaurant operators remain generally optimistic about sales growth in the months ahead. ?Forty percent of restaurant operators expect to have higher sales in six months (compared to the same period in the previous year), essentially unchanged from 41 percent who reported similarly last month. ?In comparison, only 16 percent of restaurant operators expect their sales volume in six months to be lower than it was during the same period in the previous year, down from 20 percent who reported similarly last month.

In comparison, restaurant operators are somewhat less optimistic about the direction of the overall economy in the months ahead. ?Twenty-six percent of restaurant operators said they expect economic conditions to improve in six months, up slightly from 24 percent who reported similarly last month. ?Meanwhile, 20 percent of operators said they expect economic conditions to worsen in the next six months, compared to 21 percent last month. ?

Restaurant operators continue to plan for capital spending in the months ahead. ?Fifty percent of restaurant operators plan to make a capital expenditure for equipment, expansion or remodeling in the next six months, matching the proportion who reported similarly last month. ?

The RPI is based on the responses to the National Restaurant Association?s Restaurant Industry Tracking Survey, which is fielded monthly among restaurant operators nationwide on a variety of indicators including sales, traffic, labor, and capital expenditures.

Lymphoma starts when the white blood cells, called lymphocytes, progressively multiply as a result of malignant changes within the lymph nodes and other areas in the body. They begin to grow in large numbers, pushing out healthy cells. This is what leads to the formation of tumors in the lymph nodes. Other areas affected can be the spleen and thymus and so forth.

Lymphoma can originate in the blood and bone marrow as well as the lymph nodes or lymphatic tissues, which are present in the stomach or intestines. From the bone marrow it can spread to many other parts of the body. While it is true that leukemia can spread from the bone marrow to the blood and lymph nodes, lymphoma is very different from leukemia. Lymphoma is the sixth most common cancer in men and the fifth most prevalent caner among women in the US.

MONDAY, July 25 (HealthDay News) -- Many doctors are not following guidelines on genetic counseling and testing for women at average and high risk for breast and ovarian cancer, according to a new study.

This lack of compliance could result in women missing out on treatments that could reduce their chances of developing these diseases, the researchers pointed out in a report published in the July 25 online edition of the journal Cancer.

"Despite the existence of evidence-based guidelines on referral for genetic counseling and testing for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer, many physicians report practices contrary to these recommendations," Katrina Trivers, of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said in a journal news release.

Women with mutations in the BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene or family histories of these mutations are at significantly greater risk for breast and ovarian cancer. Genetic counseling and testing are recommended for high-risk women because there are treatments that could significantly lower their risk for the diseases. These services are not recommended, however, for women who are not considered high-risk, because the harms of treatment outweigh the benefits, the study authors explained.

For the study, 1,878 U.S. family physicians, general internists and obstetrician-gynecologists responded to a survey about the services they provide to women during annual exams. More specifically, the researchers asked the doctors how frequently they refer women to genetic counseling or offer BRCA1/BRCA2 testing. The investigators also sought to determine if the doctors' answers would vary based on their female patients' age, race, insurance status or ovarian cancer risk.

The study found that only 41 percent of physicians said they would refer high-risk women for genetic counseling or testing. Meanwhile, contrary to guidelines, 29 percent of doctors said they would sometimes or always refer average-risk women.

Trivers and colleagues concluded that more efforts are needed to ensure that only high-risk women receive these services. They also noted that doctors said they are more likely to follow current recommendations when they can accurately assess their patients' risks of cancer.

PORTLAND, Ore (Reuters) ? Oregon Democratic Congressman David Wu, accused of an unwanted sexual encounter with the teenage daughter of a campaign contributor, has decided not to run for reelection next year, a spokesman said on Monday.

Wu publicly acknowledged earlier this year that he was undergoing psychiatric treatment after his staff complained of erratic behavior, including his e-mailing of a picture of himself dressed in a tiger costume.

"Recent press reports and statements attributed to our colleague, Representative David Wu, indicate he may have engaged in inappropriate activities," Pelosi wrote in a two-sentence letter to the ethics panel.

"An investigation by the Ethics Committee to determine if rules of the House of Representatives have been violated is warranted," it said.

In response to media reports that the daughter of an old high school friend and campaign donor had accused him of misconduct, Wu himself issued a statement over the weekend calling the allegation against him "very serious."

"I have absolutely no desire to bring unwanted publicity, attention or stress to a young woman and her family," he added.

NO CONFIDENCE VOTE EXPECTED

The Portland Oregonian newspaper reported that Wu's accuser is from Orange County, California, and graduated from high school in 2010. It said the alleged encounter occurred around Thanksgiving of last year when the woman was 18.

The newspaper said several of Wu's staff earlier this year listened to a distraught voice mail left by the woman, accusing Wu of aggressive and unwanted sexual advances. Details of the alleged encounter have not been disclosed.

Local party officials said the allegation amounted to the last straw for a politician whose career has been marked by a number of instances of questionable behavior.

"Many people in the 1st Congressional district and in Washington County are very upset with him and want to see him resign," said Mike Bohan, Democratic chairman in Wu's district. "It is hard to picture how he can be an effective congressman."

Democrats in Washington County were expected to hold a "no confidence" vote on Wu on Wednesday. County Democratic Party chairwoman Karen Packer expected it will pass. "The prevailing feeling among members is that Wu should resign," she said.

In 2007, Wu raised eyebrows with a speech on the House floor comparing Bush administration officials to members of a fictional alien race on "Star Trek," saying, "There are Klingons in the White House" sending "real Americans to war."

His conduct also came under scrutiny after the Oregonian reported he had delivered an angry, ranting speech to supporters in his home district in late 2010. Two days later, according to the paper, Wu talked his way past airport security to the arrival gate to pick up his two children, and then began to campaign there.

Several of his staff members resigned following the 2010 election, citing what they believed was bizarre behavior.

At the time he said, "I sincerely regret some of the things I said and did" and promised to "manage stress more appropriately going forward" with the help of medication and counseling.
