There are of gems in the state of New Jersey.? The garden state has many assets that it must protect during a natural disaster so when broke out that a hurricane would come through last week, the city took all necessary precautions.? Donald Trump?s Taj Mahal? was protected by Donald?s own hair.? Fireworks haven?t sparked this much since Donnie came across TED DIBIASE during his stint at WWE.? The cast of the Jersey Shore were protected by RONNIE?S STEROIDS.? And the cast of The Real Housewives were protected by again, Donald?s hair.? But it was impossible to predict that New Jersey had a double storm coming it?s way.? So as warnings of the approaching Hurricane rose to catastrophic proportions last Friday, so did the contagious anticipation of the Titans of Skate signing at CCS Garden State in Paramus, New Jersey. Sometimes, not all the time, a skateboarders thrashing of a skate park can be that of catastrophic proportions.
It seemed a fitting juxtaposition of two seemingly unrelated events. Diehard fans had begun to line-up for the signing as early as 7AM just as fear-stricken hurricane watchers had started scrambling for batteries, canned foods and any other item that happened to be in stock.
Back at the hotel in Newark where all the Street League skaters were staying, the vibe was slightly different. Not only had the news of the hurricane left skaters with the realization that they could be stranded in Newark for days to come, the?Street League Championship was bumped from Sunday to Saturday. Suddenly, the day before practice became the day of practice, and the day of practice became the day of the signing.
Fans began forming a line at the CCS store as early as 7AM to meet Ryan Sheckler, Shane O?Neill, Nyjah Huston, Chaz Ortiz and last minute special guest, Mike Mo. Now that?s some major heat because. The crew made a cinematic entrance to screaming fans and proceeded to power through a burly 3-hour signing.
